Diversiform Dance Project Trainee Company

  • Available to dancers ages 15-22.

  • Audition is required to be part of this company.

  • Dancers interested may either attend the professional company audition Tuesday August 6th at 7pm or schedule a private audition.

  • Dancers are required to take at minimum 3 dance classes per week. One must be ballet. The other classes can be of the dancer’s choosing.  If the dancer does not take class at 2nd Street Studio of Dance, then proof of classes taken must be shown to directors.

  • Dancers must submit availability to the studio to be placed in pieces. If the dancer has limited availability, they may not be able to be cast.

  • It is suggested to be available both Tuesdays 7-9 (professional company practice) and/or Wednesdays 5-9 (youth company practice).

  •  While dancers in the Trainee Company will have some of their own separate pieces, they may also be chosen to be involved with Youth Company pieces, or be understudies/part of Professional Company pieces at the choreographer’s discretion.

  • Dances will be cast at the choreographer’s discretion through observation during rehearsal periods.

  • Class attendance, work ethic, and maturity will factor into choreographer’s decisions on casting their pieces.

  •  Trainee Company members have the opportunity to choreograph for themselves or the Youth Company!  More details will be given to those interested.

  • Cost is $65 per month or is included in the $290 unlimited class rate.

  • Required company jacket is $40.

  • Students wanting to perform at the basketball games are expected to attend Company Camp August 5-9 to start learning their routines.  Cost is $175.

  • There is a required fundraising amount of $300 per year. This can also be paid directly to the studio without any fundraising needed.  This will go towards costumes, entry fees, and media/photoshoot fees.   Multiple fundraising opportunities will be available.

  • Members’ performance opportunities will depend on availability and casting.

  • Please check attendance policies for understanding of the time commitment.

Attendance Requirements for Youth and Trainee Companies

A dance company is a team. Just as sports teams require all players to attend practices, dance companies require their dancers to attend all classes and rehearsals. Absences will not only affect the individual dancer, but the company as an entity.

Each dancer is allowed up to three (3) total absences per semester from company classes and rehearsals. If a student exceeds this number of absences, they may be removed from certain pieces or performance or asked to leave the company. Please discuss any additional absences with the directors.

It is the responsibility of the dancer or parent to notify the directors if a student should be absent no matter if it is in the confines of the three allowed absences or not. Absences must be declared by noon of the rehearsal day.

Dancers will watch company class/rehearsal in the case of injury or mild illness to take rehearsal notes. The same rules apply to all other classes.

Diversiform Dance Project directors reserve the right to review each injury and/or circumstance on an individual basis. We also reserve the right to deny or approve a request for scheduled absences if it is detrimental to the team as a whole and/or dancer(s).

Our directors do their best to work with all absence requests made in advance. The only exception is the week before and the week of a performance, which is mandatory for dancers to attend. If the dancer is unable to attend, the directors reserve the right to remove dancers from the routine and re-block the routine.

Dance requires consistent ongoing training, and dancers who excessively miss classes will not be able to perform at the same level as those who have attended all classes regularly. The directors will be making sure each student is attending their classes and not excessively missing. If more than 5 regular dance classes have been missed by the student, the directors will evaluate the student’s company standing.
