Organizers and Instructors

Tom Raffel started his journey in dance with Contra dancing.  He began swing dancing in 2000 starting with East Coast Swing and then later added Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and Blues.  He has attended numerous swing workshops and exchanges across the US and Canada.  Tom is currently a professor at Oakland University and enjoys singing in his church choir, writing songs, and playing the guitar when not dancing. He is happy to be able to share his knowledge and love of swing dance with others.

Cindy Raffel is a former professional dancer and has an extensive background in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap.  She received her degree in Dance Education from Radford University, and has taught dance to children and adults of all ages.  Cindy began swing dancing in 2008 and then started to DJ for blues and fusion events in the Tampa and Orlando area.  After moving to Michigan for Tom's job, she opened 2nd Street Studio of Dance in 2013 and is beyond thrilled that she continues to be able to fulfill her dreams!
